During the dry season the river is a series of billabongs

waiting for the wet season so it could flow again.

Between the billabongs the river stones have a fine dust coating of silt

as they sit quietly in the hot sun waiting

for the next big rains,

the river to flow

and the opportunity to move further down the river.
